19th Annual MCPS Spike Fowler Surf Race

Tip to Tip
Spike Fowler, who was MCPS Lifeguard Supervisor, loved running on the beach. He would frequently take and assign beach runs from one tip of "The Park", Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park, to the other. The park's length is .71mi so a typical Tip to Tip run would be about 1.4mi long.
In honor of Spike's tip to tip runs, we are holding an early-morning race. The races are individual - no team score will be kept, and are open to anyone. Pre-registered competitors are guaranteed a t-shirt and top three finishers in each division will receive awards.

6:30am - Check-in and Warm Up

7:00 - Long Boats Race Start
7:10 - Short Boats Start
7:20 - Surf Ski / Kayak Start
7:45 - Beach Run Start
8:15 - Awards Ceremony

Men and Women will race together and be scored for finishes separately.
All turns around the buoy will be RIGHT turns.
Finishes MUST be between the Finish Line buoys.
Violations of rules and premature starts will receive a 1-place penalty. Unsportsmanlike conduct will result in disqualification.

There is no fee but a $10 donation to the Spike Fowler Lifeguard Scholarship is appreciated.
